Keep Banging On! Let's Get Started

What to expect

Folks attending their first drum circle may imagine that it is a bunch of chaos at first.

Take time to watch and listen how the drumming begins and ends,  give others near you "space" to hear themselves drum.

The goal is to drum together collaboratively, not compete for who can bang the loudest or fastest, or at the most difficult pace. Drumming together is meant to be a fun experience to share in the good vibrations.

Drum Circle Etiquette

Suggestions for making your first few times attending a Drum Circle enjoyable:

Wear comfortable clothing and something comfortable on your feet

Dress in layers - sometimes when you get going, you'll get warmer with the drumming activity

Sitting

A folding chair without arms

Folding camp-stool

Folding step-stool

5 gallon bucket turned upside will work (folks often carry their percussion items in the bucket - multitasking!

Standing

A good reliable drum strap

or

Drum frame - depending on what size and type of drum you use

Chair examples

Do not choose a chair with Arms on the sides --

this makes it difficult to drum freely

Join Us!

This is a relaxed, informal group of folks who meet up to enjoy one another’s company, drum, dance, or just move to the sounds. Everyone is welcome, at any level of skill - including no skill or former drumming experience. This is not an instruction group, just folks who want a place to drum with others in a relaxed manner.

  • Generally, we will drum in good weather on weekends, until folks care to stop.
  • This is a self-sufficient drum circle, bring a drum or another instrument.
  • If you have one (or more) drums or percussion instruments and wish to play and/or share
  • Bring a chair to sit on, if you have an easily transportable chair.
  • We often do potluck food and beverages, bring a little extra to share..

Join our mailing list for notification when our next Drum Circle will be held!
